Okay, I've been nursing this piriformis thang for two months now. It is showing some progress but two months is a long time.
I've seen my monthly mileage drop considerably, which isn't a concern but I'm getting antsy.
One of my running co-workers suggested going to a chiropractor for an adjustment and to possibly to loosen the hamstring area.
So my question to you, have you gone to a chiropractor for running ailments?
Have you taken the deep tissue massage route? What about a witch doctor?
Okay folks have a great weekend.......

Chiros scare me... I don't know why.
I'm all about the DTM.
I'm also a little leery of chiros. I go to a great PT that does deep tissue massage, exercises, stretching, e-stimulation, etc. (for an IT band injury). I would look for a good PT that offers massage rather than a chiro.
I've had really good luck with chirpracters. I went to one once when I litterally could barely walk that morning, and biked 12 miles and walked all over that afternoon. Another time, I had hurt my back and again could barely walk on a Monday. It took multiple visits that week, but on Sunday, I hiked up a pretty steep mountain, about 8 or 9 miles round trip.
I have had PT for a hip injury and that involved some deep massage as well as stretches and specific exercises, and that was also a great help. Good luck. Art
Ahhhhhh massages ... :)
I have never been to a chiro, but some people swear by them, so it depends on who you ask.
I have done the deep tissue massage route when I was dealing with IT band issues two years ago, and I believe it helped, but man alive, that kind of massage will leave you sore, not relaxed!
After years of being anti-chiro I found an awesome one that was recommneded to me in April. He was able to correct issues that I was having with my ankle and also improve my overall running form. Here is his info - check him out and tell him that I sent you:

I have a FANTASTIC sports chiropractic doctor that I have been working with for 4 years and he has kept me running and gunning. He has also been able to diagnose a bulging disk in my low back that was due to a super tight piraformis that was pulling my whole pelvis out of alignment as well as a torn meniscus in my knee that I fubared up in a kick boxing class.
You need to find not just any chiropractic doctor, but one who works with athletes. Even better would be a doc who is a certified personal trainer or strength and conditioning coach.
I know you are not in Texas, but here is my doc's website. Go and take a look at it and it will give you an idea of what they do and what you might want to look for.
