My Garmin never picked up a signal and I didn't care.
It was just great to get away from work, so I needed the run.
In 2005 they asked me if I would like to coach participants to run endurance events. I was elated and have been doing it since. Now I'm trying to spread the word of running to everyone.

bet that made it for an interesting in downtown Detroit! At least you went, we're expecting SNOW here!!
I felt the same way tonight. At one point, I was sure I was running on an outdoor treadmill!
Gotta love those runs. Sometimes a run w/o Garmin can be liberating!
I advocate the "run just to run" workouts. They really do help to clear your brain out.
Personally, when the wind gets to be too much I really like shouting inappropriate things into it because I feel no one can hear me, and even if they could, they would understand!
sometimes it's best to leave the garmin at home. I can't, but I hear it's a good thing.
