Wednesday's WTF????

After spending the last week in Anchorage, where the temps never got above 64º. We return to 90º temps in Detroit, WTF????

So we have 4 hours to acclimate to the heat?

I went out for a sleep deprived run and almost died!

Boy, do I feel sorry for the guys that come out to teh track tonight.

I'm still drafting my Alaska Marathon report........

Thank You Summer Team 2009

Team Michigan after the Inspiration dinner, check out the mountains in the background.

We had a great time and so the 2009 season ends for me.

Now I get to spend a few days in Alaska and let Sandy drag me around looking for moose!

More from the 50th state later.....

Wednesday Why???

Why are there so many running books on the market?

Remember in the beginning, everyone said how cheap running was. How you didn't need any special equipment and you could do it anywhere?

Just step out your door and run, it was that simple.

Now I can train like a Kenyan or eat the same diet as an Olympic marathoner.

You ever wanted to know what is feels like to run on the sun? What about running on a glacier? Well, there are books on both.

I can read about what makes a person run 100 miles within a 24 hour period. What goes through the mind of a person running 50 marathons in 50 states.

Lastly, I can even learn the meaning of life through running.

Why do I feel like Andy Rooney????????

No Joy in Mudville

Well the Stanley Cup has left the city of Detroit for a year-long trip around the Steel City.

But that's not why I sad. This was the last group training run for my 2009 season. All of my participants are now finished.

No more waking at 6:14 AM on Saturday morning regardless of the weather to make it to a group run.

No more making the PowerAde and picking up bagels.

No more searching for running routes to challenge each participant.

No more emails to answer questions and dispense words of wisdom.

Hey at least the Tigers won! Okay, time to go and enjoy the weekend.

T.G.I.F.

Go Red Wings! Game seven is tonight and the city is abuzz. It's great that it falls on casual Friday, so a lot of folks can wear their Red Wing attire.

I ran around the arena this morning in hopes of making a cameo shot on some early sports show but nobody was broadcasting.

This is the last TNT weekend training for the Summer team before we head out to Alaska, so it will be a small group.

Have any of you ever ordered something online and used a Visa/MC gift card and have it rejected? I've been waiting on running shoes since May and found out they canceled my order because of the credit card(gift card)........

Okay, everyone have a fantastic 48 hours away from work.

Thursday's Thoughts

We had a great turnout for our Wednesday track workout. It's getting a little difficult with newbies coming out, since a lot of them aren't running enough to do the main workout.

We're beginning to take over the track from the walkers!

We're not elite runners by any means but it would be nice to have the inside lanes for running.

Do you think signs should be posted for track etiquette?

Today was another running workout with some of the women from my EXTREME class. Since it was raining and no one likes to start their run in the rain, we moved to the parking structure for some hill repeats.

These guys are truly on a mission to get in shape and lose some weight. As it turned out with the amount of perspiration generated, we could have run outside!

Okay, time to settle in for some NBA action tonight and the Red Wings tomorrow.

an you believe it, a game seven! GO WINGS.........

Wednesday's Whys????????????

Why do I forget about stretching and icing when I have a few good runs?

Why can't my easy runs remain 'easy'?

Why does it go from 50º to 80º in a week?

We had a great time at our Tuesday Running club's picnic yesterday. It's always a good time when you get a bunch of runners together with a few BEvERages!!!

I had a chance to speak to one runner that had a streak of over 600 days of consecutive running days. She mentioned something that I'm finding out. If I get my run out of the way in the morning it takes the pressure off and makes for a more enjoyable run. I'm finding my evening runs are getting tough because of a lack of motivation/energy.

Okay, time to get out and run............

Alaska 20 Miler

Today was the 20 mile training run for my one TNT participant and Bob came through with flying colors. He was trying to run negative splits but the last portion was really getting to him.

I always try to have those words of encouragement but after 18 miles of running, most participants don't want to hear a perky pep talk. They just want to see the finish!

Two more weeks and we'll be basking in the sunshine of Anchorage.......

It's also the beginning weeks of the Fall TNT team and it is so nice to see the expressions on their faces when they complete the longest run of their lives.....

Can you believe it's June? Will someone slow down the time machine and let me catch my breath. Time to bump up the weekly mileage and get in some serious training. Please let this old body hold up.....

Have a great weekend out there in Blogland.

The Week That Was............

This has been a strange but enjoyable week.

There was a Birf-Day and it was first full week of employment with Micro Focus.

So if any of you Bloggers have mainframe computers in your basement, just in case of Armageddon, go out and purchase some of our stuff. Just kidding, wait for a few weeks....

The track workouts are getting bigger with more people coming to 'learn' how to run. It's great to see people run an entire laps of the track when they say they can't!

I'm beginning to really hate the phrase "I can't".

I also had a few co-workers approach me and ask about having a weekly group run at work to improve their running skills! Is this stuff contagious or what?

I guess it really is possible to pay it forward in so many ways...

Okay, lastly I was embarrassed at work about my duties as a citizen of this earth. I have a co-worker that recycles all of her stuff at work and takes it home on a weekly basis! Who knew you were suppose to recycle at work????

Do you know that you can wash those plastic utensils and use them another time????

Is this a great country or what?

So now I 'll be lugging home trash from work to recycle.........

Just kidding Recycle Queen......

Yay for the weekend, we have a twenty miler to do( not me but the team)......
