On Sunday, March 21, 2010 I became the proud father of a bouncing (okay, he wasn't bouncing) marathoner! He arrived in 4 hours and 18 minutes in the city of Los Angles.
We were expecting him in under four hours but he had a mental lapse at mile 12. He started losing his focus but continued to move forward. I met him at mile 22 and attempted to serve as comic relief but he wasn't in the mood.
We ran from fluid station to fluid station and he was really appreciative of my presence. I am so proud of him!
He actually is talking about doing another marathon and improving on that time. I think the gauntlet has been tossed and I had better get my butt in gear.........
It was a great time in the City of Angels with perfect weather, if you like 75º and sunshine........
Now why am I living in Michigan?????

Congrats to your "baby" boy!
Congrats to your boy!
Yes, it was a course to cause snags, but glad the marathoner was born!
This is such an awesome post! Congrats proud papa!!
Congrats Dad but don't puff on cigars, they will mess up your running. Can't thank you coaches enough for all you do. Art
That is an awesome time for a first marathon! I did that marathon before they changed the course. How is it now?
@Racn4acure - Thanks for the props, I needed that about now.
@CoachLiz - It's a point to point course starting at Dodger Stadium through LA all the way to Santa Monica. Everyone really liked it.
a HUGE Congrat's to your baby boy!!! Way to go and you know, that time ain't too shabby!!
you live in michigan for the same reason everyone does - it's the all you can eat mosquito fest every evening.
The LA marathon does sound pretty cool now that it has a new course.
