Why doesn't someone trip this old fart? He's making it bad for the rest of us old farts! I guess Ed Whitlock(age 81) set another age rated record in the marathon, running 3:30 in Toronto. It must be that Canadian conversion thang!
He supposedly trains in a cemetery near his home. Just in case, I guess.....
His time at the halfway was 1:41.....
I hate him.....
He couldn't get in as many races this year because of an injury...
I hate him........
I want to just make it to 81!
How do you tell the people in the assisted living home that you're going for a training run? Sure you are, now get back in there and eat your oatmeal mush!!!
Ha, won my age group again and the race hasn't started!
What would he talk about in a training run with a group, "I remember when all of this was wilderness".
Boy am I jealous..........

I can't believe it's Monday already! I just pulled myself away from the television.....
Football and baseball galore......... and most of my teams won (Go Pack)...
I took the bike out of the basement for a charity ride for a local triathlete that was hit by a gravel truck while training for Kona! It was an amazing event to be around so many like-minded people. I don't know the woman but a majority of the tri-geeks I know were there. This woman has a hell of a battle ahead of her from injuries that you sustained.... So be careful out there, especially now that we're headed into the months of darkness....
I even spent a part of Saturday looking at the Kona Ironman on the web..
Ten days to surgery and I have to stop taking Aleve, Motrin and even aspirin.... Not that I took any of them.
I'm going to have an abundance of knee braces that I hope I won't need.
I feel bad for Derek Jeter but not the Yankees.

!) WTF??? When did we just jump to November weather??? It's been effin cold in the morning and evenings. I've been pullin gout winter crap just to get out and run!
2) The Giants come back and beat the Reds to go to the NLCS. Now I need the Tigers to pull out game five tonight. Why the fuck do games start at 9:45 PM??? I can see all the little kids staying up to watch their baseball heroes.......... NOT!
3) I had a chance to talk briefly with a couple of co-workers that completed their first marathons in Chicago and they had me cracking up! I also took the liberty of looking at their race photos and they were looking BADD(not Michael Jackson bad, but Joe Jackson bad)! It's refreshing to hear the perspective of a virgin marathoner.....
Go Tigers

I'm scheduled for knee surgery on October 25, so I'm going to use the hell out of it up until that date. I can't make it any worse.....
I spent Sunday morning watching and tracking the Chicago marathon and it was gorgeous outside. That was followed with baseball and football watching. Boy, was that fun....
The doctor looked at the X-rays of my knee and said he didn't even need an MRI. He said even I could have probably seen the damage!
The nurse asked about my symptoms and read from a list of common ones. I got 100%, every question I had the ailment... I think she just checked the 'All Above' checkbox....
I'm looking forward to have racing photos without a knee brace on.........
I purchased running gloves from Costco...........
One of my running/cycling friends is on 'The Amazing Race' and I have been having so much fun ripping him while I watch the show. Will is the substitute teacher that can't blow up balloons for shit! They're still in the race but each episode they're near the last team to finish.

1) My appointment for my knee is tomorrow and I have my laundry list of things that occur with it! Feel free to add to it:
3) With the exception of those folks in the South, have you swapped out your summer running stuff yet? I pulled out the long-sleeved crap and put away a ton of short-sleeved stuff. I'm still looking for my reflective stuff, it's dark at 7:30?????
- Stiffness after sitting
- Kneecap clicking (this has stopped)
- Swelling
- Dull ache after exercise
- Feels like it will give out sometimes...

I took the entire weekend off from running and did my impressions of a normal person, here are some thoughts:
You can sleep in and it's still early enough to beat the majority of the world out running errands!
You don't really care what the weather report is, since you're in a car!
Coffee on the patio taste better.
You see all your Facebook friends have been up and out for hours before you finish your first cup of coffee.
Your neighbors look at you differently when you don't have on running gear and you're outside.
It was nice to make it to church and not rush.
Breakfast before noon.
Wow, you runners sure are a strange lot.
