It was a Good DAy

NOT! I had a terrible run today at lunch. I went out with a co-worker and we were smacked in the face with hot humid stagnant air!

Now this normally isn't a problem that slowing down can't get me through but my left hamstring started yelling at me five minutes into the run.....

I always use the analogy of an old car when referring to my body.

If you've ever owned a clunker, you can relate. Once you fix one part, another part starts to fall apart.

My knees are actually feeling great, so now the hamstring wants some of my attention........

Oh to have one of those sleek 2009 bodies that they show off on the cover of Runner's World or Running Times.

Wouldn't it be great to see a mature looking runner with salt stains on their face and that deer in the headlights look in their eyes after a tough race on the cover one day????

Everyone have a great weekend and the first BEvERage is on me!

Wednesday's Why

Today it's just random whys, for no apparent reason:

Why do doughnuts taste better than carrots?

Why did I begin this running streak???

Why do teenagers look at you strange when you're running?

Why do smokers crack the car windows when they smoke?

Why do I have two pairs of running shoes in my cubicle?

Why did I sign-up to ride 300 miles and not train???

These are just some of the questions that keep me up at night.........

My legs are really tired with no rest in sight. I may have to resort to an ice bath.

Wednesday's Why

Why haven't I been posting anything to this blog?

I have been trying to enjoy the three weeks of summer that we get here in the high-five state, so logging on to a computer after work doesn't happen a lot.

Wednesday's WTF????

After spending the last week in Anchorage, where the temps never got above 64º. We return to 90º temps in Detroit, WTF????

So we have 4 hours to acclimate to the heat?

I went out for a sleep deprived run and almost died!

Boy, do I feel sorry for the guys that come out to teh track tonight.

I'm still drafting my Alaska Marathon report........

Thank You Summer Team 2009

Team Michigan after the Inspiration dinner, check out the mountains in the background.

We had a great time and so the 2009 season ends for me.

Now I get to spend a few days in Alaska and let Sandy drag me around looking for moose!

More from the 50th state later.....

Wednesday Why???

Why are there so many running books on the market?

Remember in the beginning, everyone said how cheap running was. How you didn't need any special equipment and you could do it anywhere?

Just step out your door and run, it was that simple.

Now I can train like a Kenyan or eat the same diet as an Olympic marathoner.

You ever wanted to know what is feels like to run on the sun? What about running on a glacier? Well, there are books on both.

I can read about what makes a person run 100 miles within a 24 hour period. What goes through the mind of a person running 50 marathons in 50 states.

Lastly, I can even learn the meaning of life through running.

Why do I feel like Andy Rooney????????
