The best-laid plans........

Today's TNT group training was going to be filled with hills and marathon-paced miles, but alas we received more of the white stuff!

The path was plowed but the snow continued to fall as we prepared for our training run. The footing was slick and made for uncertain strides.

So we just did the required mileage and called it a day. We did vae a few participants fall but nothing serious.

I have a question to throw out there in Blogland, so feel free to respond with your personal experiences about it.

My passion for running is that it's a place where I go to get away from things and focus solely on myself. I hate to stress out about my running because that defeats the purpose.

So I'm thinking of having a 'Run Like a Kid' week for the team. They've been training for over three months and are probably in need of a break. I plan to let them run without their watch, as far as they want o go and as fast or slow as they want. Just run like a kid, what do you think?

Seems like a fun idea!

Run Like a Kid sounds like a great idea. And I would try it if I wasn't so obsessed with my stats.

I think it is a great idea. After 3 months and getting close to their marathon a little fun and games would be great.

What a great way to get the team to remember how much fun running is! I am sure this will force some of them to relax, and stress less about the large task that they are striving toward. Gotta post, and let us know how successful this is!

I still can't believe how much snow you guys have had this year! It's like never stopping!

I think the kids run idea is great, nothing than a step back week without stressing to get motivated again =)

I think that is a fantastic idea. It's refreshing to 'just run' once in a while.

I love the idea. I think most of us get so tangled up in our running sometimes that it's not fun.

I think ALL of us should run without our watches sometimes.

I'm the same way. If things become too serious or all work and no play, I end up dreading and I don't need another thing to stress about. I say DO IT! It will be fun :-)

I think that's a fantastic idea! I always embed a week (or two) of what I call "freefall running" -- just doing it without any goals and instruments. They are amazingly liberating. I bet your crew loves them -- and you.

You northerners are tough, running in snow, uphill both ways...

run like a kid - sounds like a good idea to me. The training does wear you down at points. Art

I think that sounds like a great idea! It is so easy to become fixated on trying to run a distance or a pace that stepping back to find the joy in it is a brilliant plan!
