Why do we run in this season?
I'm reading a lot about people not being motivated to get out of the door and brave the elements during the dark and cold days/nights of winter.
I can actually remember when I took the months of December and January off from running completely! It just didn't seem like a sane thing to do during those months. I would always regret it when the spring races began and I wasn't in shape.
But what drives us to get out in that dark abyss and risk injury from slipping on ice?
What motivates you to check for wind chill temperatures and risk hypothermia?
Why not just sit on your a$$ and enjoy the warm comforts of home? Most of the creatures that remain in these God forsaken regions hibernate during this period. Why aren't we that smart?

I have yet to brave the elements. I've been comfy, cozy and sweaty on the treadmill at the gym. I don't know when I'll get outside and run at this point!
Because I don't need my @ss getting bigger than it already is! And with all the eating and drinking I've been doing lately, I have to do Something!
And it's kinda fun when you're out running, having a good time and everyone driving by looks at you like you're a nut.
I feel like ^$&%, physically and mentally, when I'm not running.
I really tried to think of ways to make cake eating count, I mean I know I'll be doing some..but I just couldn't think of any. :)
Because I go stir crazy trapped indoors! Sitting in warm comfort is only fun for so long...
I'm with tfh! I'm indoors with the kids all day I need to get the hell on out LOL
I love looking at the Christmas lights, and not to sound cheesy, how the moon reflects off the snow, the brisk fresh air, twinkling lights. And ofcourse, so I can eat!!
One line to answer your pondering quesitons...."Shut up and Run!" Seriously why stop running in this age to technology built for runners. We have headlamps, reflective clothing, trail shoes with good traction for snow and ice, and running in the extremes is more challenging.
