T.G.I.Fall...........

Okay, the end of Summer depression is beginning. Where did the summer of 2012 go?

I only logged 34 miles this summer!

My tan lines are from riding my bike!

We only purchased one watermelon!

We haven't had a fire in the backyard!

I've only washed my car twice outside!

Work sucks!

We didn't have a picnic yet!

My race card is empty!

My garden is out of control, who knew tomatoes were so wild!

I only swam two times!

My knee sucks!

I only took three pictures outside!

Tuesday's Thoughts......

Okay, the back is feeling much better but the knee isn't. Is there a Hurt germ traveling around my body?

Since I finished my 300 mile bike ride, I haven't seen my bike....

If you had a podcast about running what would you talk about for an hour???

I ran 1.75 miles combined for Saturday and Sunday...

I love sleeping in, until I'm running at 10:00 AM...

I can't believe the number of people that take photos of themselves in bathroom mirrors....

Do you think birds fly the same speed all the time or do they go faster sometimes????

Do you think Diana Nyad is crazy????

If you had to all over to do again would you run track in high school?

T.G.I.F....

This week has sucked! My knee has started acting up again for no apparent reason.....

Then yesterday some idiot thought he could dead lift the world and strained his back. I hate when that happens. It was so bad that I could barely put on my socks! I was really feeling like the old guy you see in the lockerroom taking thirty minutes to get dressed.....

So I was driving around with my car A/C on and the heated seats going at the same time!!!!

Tomorrow we had to Flint for the Crim Festival of Races. I'll be there to cheer and yell and possibly run a few miles with some of our Team in Training folks. This is by far one of my favorite races to attend, even if I'm not running.

I found a stash of old CDs that I hadn't even thought about in years and I think I'll be starting a memory lane playlist soon.

I'm still running sans a GPS unit and I will probably continue. I keep looking at my dead Garmin and just wonder, what could I have done to save it? It was taken in the prime of it's life, why him?????

Wednesday's Why????

Why doesn't Garmin have any Elite athletes endorse their products?

Why don't you see elite runners with Garmins????

How did Garmins become so popular with basically word of mouth advertisements???

Can you tell I still haven't replaced my dead Garmin?

How much of the GPS watch technology do you really use?

Why do we care about out average pace?

What if I ran a 10 minute mile followed by a 5 minute mile, what does the average tell me about my run?

We know about the story of the first marathon, but what about the first Ironman. Did the person have to stop swimming and then stole a bike which ultimately got a flat after 112 miles so they had to run 26.2 miles?

Monday Moaning......

Not only is it the start of another work week, the temps are starting to get cooler in the mornings and evenings and I walking with a lim!

Now this isn't my normal cool limp but a achy right knne limp!

Why is it we forget about the little things that keep us out on the road? I still need to stretch and ice and roll certain areas of my body, even when they aren't talking to me.

Why do I go out and walk nine holes of golf with an achy knee?

At least I'm smart enough to know not to try and run on it today(unless I feel really good when I get off work). Okay, I'll take a day off and ice it, while indulging in a few BEvERages......

Life is good......

T.G.I.Funny............

When you see an individual you haven't seen in years, one of the first things they ask is "..are you still running?"...

When you run on a route that you haven't seen in years and you used to kill it, "I don't remember all these hills?"

When you see a guy with the old Sony Walkman with the tuner in the headset....

When you remember races that had an unlimited amount of Finish line BEvERages.

When you look at race results and go directly to the Grand Master division.

When your Saturday morning running group is just you and another guy.

Tired Legs................

There has to a fine line between strengthening and trashing your legs!

I've been on a crusade to find my line. The running has been consistent with about one rest day a week but my miles are shorter, so no real long runs. The gym workouts have been five days a week with light weights and high reps! I'm loving my Altras, which are probably making me use different leg muscles while running.

I even got back on the bike this past weekend and rode into some nasty headwinds, must have been at least 3 mph winds........ Whew............

Well after all of this I can honestly say that getting up to pee in the middle of the night is a journey!

Even though the legs are tired, it is a good feeling.

Still haven't replaced my Garmin or iPod, so I just listen to the little voices in my head and only run routes that I know the mileage.

I think I'm one of the few people in the gym without ear buds on while working out!

TTT

1) This morning's run was very eventful. For the first time in my running career I saw roadkill that wasn't yet dead! Ewwwwwwww..... This poor squirrel had been run over just in his or her hind side and wasn't able to move but it was still alive and looking up. It scared the $hit out of me.....

2) With these early morning runs, I'm finding it difficult to ice the achy body parts because of my work commitment! It was so much easier when I ran in the evening......

3) I can't even imagine the amount of Kinesio tape that is being used at the Olympics! Those athletes are competing with God knows how many strains and tears and other assorted injuries.....

I am actually debating if I want to get another Garmin or just go old school and use a watch.

My playlist sucks!

This morning's run was kind of cool because of the solitude.The traffic was even minimal.....

Monday Moments..........

Is it Monday again? Damn, why aren't weekends longer???

Women's marathon, That's all I'm saying about it. I didn't wake up to watch the start because I need all the beauty rest I can get!

Usain Bolt is a Beast! Although that's the nickname of his teammate, it definitely applies to him.

Sandy is pissed because her soap operas aren't being televised because of the Olympics

I must have recovered from the bike ride because I was actually thinking of getting on the bike yesterday. Am I stupid or what?

I'm trying to get my track participants to run a trail 5k on Wednesday, just to see if their hard work is going to pay off.

I found myself watching the women weightlifters due in part to Crossfit. There are some BIG girls lifting some heavy weight!

My morning runs are getting easier but I still hate them!

TTT

1) Work sucks, so I guess that's why they call it work!

2) Cycling Short rash, WTF? I think the combination of completely wet shorts and never drying combined to give me a rash in the nether land....... Once again a first for me..... any help in this area would be appreciated.

3) I love the fact that at my Big Box gym there are so many guys trying to become Behemoth by lifting thousands of pounds. Here I am doing 120 air squats and the guy in the same area is squatting  315 lbs, although he only does two! I'm trying to become a lean mean machine and they're doing the opposite. But the fact that we're both there really motivates me to do more.

Why did I become so dependent upon my Garmin?

Why did they make it so easy for me to upload all of my running and biking data into a training log?

Why did my Garmin have to die so young?

Why is NBC showing tape-delayed Olympic events?

Why don't runner's tops have the pockets int eh back like bike jerseys?

Why do I complain about summer going so fast but go to bed early at 9:30 PM?

Why are my tomato plants taking over my garden????

Why do people going to the gym need the closest parking spot, even when the weather is nice????
