Sharing

Oh the joy of sharing something that someone else doesn't have. It is truly a joyous thing to share, especially in these economic times.

But I didn't need to have germs bestowed upon me by my loving co-workers.........

Why couldn't they bring in a German Chocolate cake to share????

So I spent Friday afternoon and evening in bed. It's amazing what 12 hours of sleep can do.

I think I'll pas on the Halloween festivites and just get well. Maybe I can throw candy to the trick or treaters from the garage?

I'll also be getting ready for the showdown in Lambeau field this Sunday. Mr. Farve will making his return to the frozen tundra.

Hopefully all of you out there are enjoying your additional hour and have a great weekend.

cough, cough........... sorry.

Wednesday's Wonder?????

I wonder if there has ever been an American President that almost everyone liked????

Some of the supposed good ones were assassinated in office.

I wonder if I'll ever be able to run with the same enjoyment that I once had years ago???

I wonder what the next BIG thing in running will be? Who could have envisioned a GPS unit that fits on your wrist and collect data from a satellite hundred of miles away.

I wonder what I'm going to look like when I turn 85 years old? I find myself looking in the mirror more and seeing someone else. It's not bad but it is different.

I wonder when we'll have those flying cars that they promised us for the year 2000?

I wonder if I'll be able to train for another marathon???

I wonder why we can't pick up a piece of liter, even if we didn't drop it???

I wonder what am I going to post tomorrow??????????

Later, got to go for a jog.........

Tuesday's Thoughts

I refuse to write a starting date on my new running shoes until I actually start running. Jogging around the track doesn't count!

Why are drivers more courteous in large parking lots when you have a shopping cart but not when you're just walking??? I guess hitting a pedestrian won't dent the car?

Kmart is bringing back Lay-Away. I think I'll buy something just for old times sake! How many of you got your Christmas gifts that way when you were kids????

What makes the Blue Man Group different from Smurfs????

Do you look at the driver that has a running related item on their car?

Why is my stress reliever causing me stress????

Yankees or Phillies???????

I am Turbl

That's right, I'm a turbl(Charles Barkley) blogger.

Isn't it the duty of the host blogger to meet and greet any visiting blogger in their city?

Aren't I responsible for photos galore and arranging multiple meet-ups????

Shouldn't I be the one to tell my visiting bloggers where to go, as well as where not to go????

Well, I am turbl...... I did none of the above and as my punishment will not blog for the next sixteen years!!!!!

Sorry for being such a turbl host, but I have an excuse! I was kidnapped as a child and raised by a pack of wolves...

Okay, work is getting crazy and the days are getting shorted and the furnace is being turned on!!!! All of the things that I don't really care for.

I am rehabbing my entire body and planning the 2010 running season. When you're injured, this is the only thing that gives you hope that one day you'll be able to run without pain coming along for the ride.

Did I mention T.G.I.F.?????

Good times to everyone that is racing this weekend and happy resting for everyone that raced last weekend.

Bittersweet Sunday

It was a gorgeous morning to run in downtown Detroit and it's neighbor to the south Windsor, Ontario. Our annual event was marred with the deaths of three(3), that's right three male runners.

Prayers and thought go out to the family's of there individuals.

I'm not sure of why but an autopsy of each will be performed. I've already heard people that about doping of fluids and food! Who knows?????????

It was great to see bloggers out on the course or at the expo and I'm sorry I didn't have time to be a better host!

Kim, you looked great out there and Doug must have been flying!

All of the TNT folks did great and this old body is a little sore and achy(is that a word) but I had a great time.

Now I have to look forward to my upcoming season and the chance to get some newbies across that finish line.....

Marathon Weekend

The weekend of the Detroit Free Press Marathon is always a blast! I so enjoy seeing folks that I haven't seen in a long time.

I went to the expo on Friday and was able to visit with DiscomBobulated Runner as she handed out 'Woman's Running' magazines. I hope to catch up with her again before the weekend is over. I also hoping to see Kim and Doug running through the streets of Detroit.

There will also be tons of other TNT folks to cheer for, so it's going to be a fun day in the Motor City.

I scheduled to lead the TNT folks on a 5K run and then jump into the 1/2 and full marathon for support. Even though I'm an unofficial coach, I'm so looking forward to being a part of it. Let's just hope that my STUPID left hamstring doesn't flare up. Stupid hamstring.......

Okay, more stuff to come....

Wednesday's Where????

I had the opportunity to drive pass an area that I worked at over ten years ago and it I was immediately flooded with a ton of good memories.

This was a time when job seemed plentiful and I was younger and running like a gazelle. Okay, at least in my mind!

The one thing that really jumped out at me was the apparent vacancy in a large portion of the business buildings int he area. I'm talking about parking lots that could hold hundreds of cars that were empty!

Where did all of these jobs/people go? I know the answer but it still amazes me what has transpired. We still have the same number of NFL, NBA, NHL teams. We have fewer newspapers, auto dealers, retail stores just as an example.

I sometimes get truly afraid of where this great country of ours is going. What will my kids and even I have to go through in the next twenty years?

Okay, enough of that! Just a few more days until the streets of Detroit are teaming with the pitter pat of big feet. I have my TNT assignment and I am ready to yell at folks.

I'm still deciding on which obnoxious hat to don for the event but I will be noticeable....

Tuesday's Thoughts

Flu shot or no flu shot???

We're getting closer to the Detroit Free Press marathon and people are freaking out! What should I wear, will it rain, do I really need a passport?????

And these are just the spectators!

I'm volunteering my coaching skillz for Team in Training, so I can yell at another group of participants, YAY!

I had blood drawn today and didn't even feel the needle! This nurse was fantastic, I don't know how she did it but I was amazed.....

Is there something wrong when the doctors are a little obese????? Well at least they weren't smoking!

With my new office arrangements, maybe I should get that flu shot! When is the contagious stage anyway?

Jess, stop complaining about the heat while posing for pictures in the pool. Did the furnace just start up again?

I wouldn't mind going to the Paris Marathon.

I refuse to watch 'Flash Forward or Fringe', you can't sucker me into that stuff again. What happened to 'My Name is Earl'?

I need some motivation to go into the basement and get on my bike, maybe I can get to Paris another way?

Lost Weekend

This weekend was spent getting inspired from other athletes!

I spent too much time checking out the Hawaii Ironman on Saturday and the Chicago Marathon on Sunday. The afternoon football doesn't count on either day.

Being a self-imposed prisoner, I was able to swap out my summer stuff for my winter crap! This is the process that I really don't enjoy.

My son completed his first half-marathon in 1:51:24, now I have to get off my arse and start training harder. I'm sure we'll meet on some course in the next year.

Oh, now the Lions are starting to act like a professional football team, gotta go..........

It's Amazing

Okay, I'm not talking about my current running that's for sure. I'm still having issues with my left hamstring but it's not going to stop me!

I just found out that my son is participating in his first 1/2 marathon in Long Beach tomorrow morning, so I'm excited for him. Now I really need to get back on he road, he'll probably be beating me in the next few years.

Sandy is in Chicago with her TNT team, so I had all day to watch the Kona Iroman on the web. Ha, that to-do list is gathering dust!

Can you imagine missing the swim cut-off time by 8 seconds? Well, Kyle Garlett was eight seconds too many! The really amazing thing is Kyle is a cancer survivor, as well as a heart transplant recipient. It was truly inspiring to hear hm speak about missing the cut-off and his positive attitude on life.

Wednesday's Why?????????

Why do I get into these relationships that I know are doomed from the beginning?

I give my heart willingly and fully, only to have it stepped on like a cigarette butt!

You would think that after the first disappointment that I would learn, but NOOOOOOOOO. I am as naive and stupid as a teenager.

I guess the old saying that time heals all wounds is true, because I'm sure that I'll be in the same situation this time next year. I will have forgotten about what transpired in 2009 and blindly succumb to their charm and allure once again.

If any of you are reading this blog in the Spring of 2010 and I mention how giddy I am about the upcoming baseball season, please drop me a note and remind me of how I feel today.

There is no joy in Mudville today, the mighty Casey has struck out!!!!

Back to the Dome

Okay, so my team didn't fare to well in the MetroDome last night but I have a second chance.

My Detroit Tigers will be battling for the Central Division title (which they should have won before they choked) against teh Minnesota Twins.

There is no way that I can go O-fer in that damn Dome!

I'll be hoisting a few BEvERages with my Tuesday night running group and watching the game.

Who's your Tiger???????????

MNF - R U Ready 4 Some Football?????

Not a lot going on in the high-five state for this guy. Work is getting a lot of my time and that cold is finally starting to subside.

Being the Packer fan that I am, I'll be staying up late watching my Pack crush the Vikings.
